I joined the Astiz Lab for my PhD, driven by my motivation to understand the interactions between living beings, especially humans, and the environment. My work in the lab involves investigating the interaction between the glucocorticoid receptor and various circadian clock proteins using molecular biology and imaging techniques. My aim is to decipher how fetal sensitivity to maternal glucocorticoids is regulated in a time-of-day-dependent manner, at both mechanistic and functional levels.
I studied Biology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), where I also completed an internship at the Plentzia Marine Station (PiE center), researching the impact of microplastics in the marine environment on shrimp. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I pursued a master’s in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine at the same university, focusing on how hypoxia affects Müller cells, the primary glial cells in the retina. These experiences have helped me develop a range of skills that will be valuable for my PhD, while also keeping my enthusiasm for learning strong.
Outside of work, I love traveling and discovering new places, as it helps me unwind and experience different cultures. I also value quality time with family and friends, whether it's watching series, cooking, among other activities. Furthermore, I'm always enthusiastic about learning new things that can enrich both my personal and professional life.
